WE FINALLY MADE IT!

Singapore

Kia ora everyone!
Well we are finally underway! Man it has been a real hectic six days or so and we have seen and done lots! It all started on day 1 when we arrived in Singapore to the sweltering heat and humidity! Luckily we had good ole air conditioning!

Did lots in Singapore and ate some wicked and cheap as kai! Have been eating fruit for breakfasts, pineapple, papaya, melon etc! Yum. Luvin that!

The underground train system is awesome! Really quick, easy to use and clean.

China town was really interesting and we had a delicious Vietnamese lunch there. We then went to Orchard Rd to the Lucky Plaza and bought a new Sony Cybershot camera which rocks!

We went to Jurong Bird Park which was gorgeous too esp the flamingos, and we fed some birds and they sat on our arms and shoulders, which was cool!

There were a number of awesome bird shows also that were really amazing to watch. They included parrots flying through hoops, fetching things and taking things to members of the audience and playing basket ball too! Jurong has the largest man made waterfall in the world (see picture) which is huge and is set in a beautiful aviary that you can walk in and see birds flying around in the natural habitat.

Melaka

From Singapore we went to Melaka (Malacca) which was amazing! Steeped in history! Olivia had some pics with a huge iguana on her and a real live scorpion as well! FREAKY alright! There was some amazing ruins of the original church that was built overlooking the town and we hiked up to explore and get some beautiful pictures. There were two buskers in the church who had great voices and could sing songs from all over the world!

We then headed to Chinatown there also for the night market which we were lucky to catch! Again nice cheap and delicious kai! I had one of the best Laksas I think that I have ever had in my life there and it cost a whole $1.50! Then we watched this Kung Fu master on the side of the street who is in the Malaysian book of records, pierce a coconut with his index finger! He was unreal! We got some Chinese ointment from him also which has worked wonders on Olivia's aches and pains!

The next morning we had a lovely little breakfast courtesy of the hostess at our guesthouse and then caught the bus from Melaka to Kuala Lumpur.

Kuala Lumpur

We met some Canadians on the bus doing the same sort of trip as us and decided we would hang out and find a place to stay! After trapsing through the heart of KL and checking out this complete dive we ended up in a nice little place (WITH AIR CONS) and then went exploring. We caught the underground, which like Singapore is cheap and really easy to use - to see the Petronas towers! Talk about amazing! We didnt get to go up them this time around but when we make it back to KL we definitely will! Got some fantastic pics though and as we got there in the late afternoon, early evening and got to see it in the sunset and at night which was incredible! From there we all hit this bar called Rum Jungle for a cold beer and then it was back to Chinatown for dinner! It which was absolutley delicious to say the least! From there it was back for a sleep and early rise to catch the train then bus to the airport for our 9.30am flight. The airport is 80kms from KL so an hour and half later we checked in and then flew 2 and a half hours to Kota Kinabalu where we are now! PHEW!

We have a lovely little double room at a place called Summer Lodge ( YES WITH AIR CONS) and unlimited internet for free YAY - and free breakfast in the morning too YAY! We have to stick to our budget as we will be travelling for six months before work and so far so good!
