London, England (Part 1)
At last we reached our destination. It was quite a surreal feeling to think that we had finally made it. It seemed like yesterday that we had been planning this all out and next thing you know we were going through customs, getting our stamps and on the bus from Stansted airport into Oxford Street. We got off in the West End and walked along the length of Oxford Street with our packs on our backs and other bags in tow and after going the wrong way (because of my mis-directions) we eventually found Puna and Shane's place. They lived right smack in the middle of London about two minutes walk from Carnaby Street, Soho, Regent and Oxford Streets. How lucky were we to stay there as our 1st taste of living in London! It was so good to see Shane and to put our bags down and catch up over a cold beer. The view from their place was amazing. You could see the London Eye and all sorts of other London icons.
Puna finally got home from work and we had a really lovely evening. The next day we went shopping as neither of us had any winter wear and of course the weather here was much colder than in Asia or Europe. We went to a shop called Primark. You can get pretty much anything there really cheap! However the catch is that there are also hundreds of other people trying to do the same thing so the queues are so long and take ages (yes it's true they love to queue here!) .

That night we went to a Vietnamese restaurant for dinner. We are told to check it out to see if it was authentic. The food wasn't all that bad, but couldn't compare to Vietnam either in taste or cost! Man the pound hurts on the NZ dollar! From there we went out to a pub called O'Neills for our first London pub experience to watch some rugby and have a cold pint. In the UK a PINT is a PINT! The glasses seem huge compared to home, but no complaints here! Liv and Puna had a cider which is very popular over here.
The next night I took Olivia to a place called Wagamama for our third year anniversary. It was a really lovely evening and the food there is delicious. They serve Japanese food and you sit on large tables sort of like you would see in a dining hall and share them with all the other diners there. It's quite a cool experience.
It was just a quick stop in London and the time soon came for our next little trip. So we got out overnight bags together (it was so good to be able to leave the bulk of our stuff behind and not lug those packs around!) and headed for Kings Cross station to catch our train to Edinburgh, Scotland for the All Blacks next game!
